Mock Business Meeting
This Professional Studies program is offered for 0.20 PS CEUs at the little/none Content Knowledge Level. RID HQ is an approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with the structure and procedures of a formal business meeting. Participants will learn the correct parliamentary procedures using RRO in order to gain a better understanding of an RID business meeting. Through this mock meeting, members will practice making motions, following parliamentary process, and engaging in discussion, with the goal of increasing confidence and readiness to actively participate in the upcoming RID business meeting on January 10, 2026. Participants of this session will:
1. Practice responding to and voting on motions using parliamentary procedure.
2. Apply rules of order in a mock setting to gain comfort and familiarity with real meeting processes.
3. Evaluate their own level of readiness to engage in the upcoming RID business meeting by reflecting on their experience in the mock session.
M. Antwan Campbell
M. Antwan Campbell first joined the interpreting profession through his younger brother and is a 2003 graduate of Gardner-Webb University where he received his BA in ASL and in 2007, he received his Master’s in Public Administration from UNC-Pembroke. He has taught several workshops geared towards improving the skills of educational interpreters and those who work with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across North Carolina and the surrounding states. He is currently working as the Educational Consultant for Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Interpreter Support with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. He has worked within the educational system for over twenty years in a variety of settings from elementary to post-secondary and on a variety of levels from being in the classroom to supervising outside of it. He has received his Ed:K-12 interpreting certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, RID. He is currently serving as the Region 2 Representative on the RID Board of Directors. He has served the local community in a variety of ways to include mentoring new and beginning interpreters throughout the state as well. It is truly evident that Antwan has a passion for education and improving the standards for all students. He currently resides in Raleigh, NC. Antwan has over 15 years of facilitating board meetings using RRO and parliamentary procedures. This included over 8 years as an AC President.
Mona Mehrpour
Mona Mehrpour is a heritage signer of ASL and the daughter of two deaf parents. Over the past 15 years, she has interpreted in a variety of settings, including educational interpreting in K-12 and post-secondary settings, video relay, medical, community, theater, and public services throughout Northern California. Throughout her interpreting journey, she has completed an interpreting training program, received a 4.0 on the EIPA, and became a nationally certified interpreter (NIC). Mona has also served as a Region Representative, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Deaf Parented Interpreters Member Section, and she is currently serving on the RID Board of Directors as Member At Large. She resides in Central Virginia, continuing her interpreting journey by engaging in both community and virtual work. As an immigrant and a child of immigrants from Iran, Mona grew up in multiple deaf communities, which continues to inspire her growth. She thrives on the connections she makes with her peers in dialogues about personal development and in dissecting interpreting work to better understand decision-making processes and provide the best possible access for diverse deaf communities.
